Hi everyone! I posted this mermaid jacket on my instagram last night, and received so many compliments on it! I thought I would throw together a little blog post on the jacket, and the designer!
Last week I had the opportunity to attend the Wild Jay One Love fashion show here in Seattle! My fellow blogger and good friend Lashonya Hamilton was the lead stylist, and she did an amazing job! While watching the show, I spotted this jacket on the runway, and fell in love with the sequin sleeves! The Little Mermaid has always been my favorite Disney movie , so the mermaid vibes were right up my alley. After the show Lashonya introduced me to the designer, Kaysha, who was just so sweet. I am all about supporting local artists, so I jumped at the chance to purchase the jacket!
Styling
Styling a statement piece like this jacket can be difficult, so a good way to ease into it is going simple! I styled this jacket with a black sweater tucked into black denim, with my black over the knee boots and a black bag. See a theme there? Lol. I wanted the jacket to have alllll the attention in this outfit, since it is such a statement piece! It’s important to have good basic pieces in your wardrobe, but statement pieces (like this mermaid jacket) are what set you apart! I received compliments on the jacket even while we were taking these photos!
