I tried to make my own high waisted shorts out of an old pair of jeans once…let’s just say it didn’t end well. I like to consider myself pretty crafty, but this was one DIY project I just couldn’t master. When I came across the High Waisted Denim shorts in Urban Outfitters Urban Renewal line years ago, I was so excited! Each pair is up-cycled from a pair of vintage jeans, so no two pairs are alike! You’re basically buying a DIY project made by a DIY expert. Obviously they end up a lot better than the mismatched shorts that I attempted to make.
I’ve bought three pairs of these shorts throughout the years. My first pair was an acid wash high waisted pair, that I loved in college! They were stolen at a music festival one summer, and I still miss them to this day!
My second pair are a cuffed, high waisted pair that I love! I bought them last year, and I wear them all the time! I bought them in a size medium, and they fit me perfectly. They also have cute distressing on the front pockets!
My most recent pair are the high waisted cutoff denim Levi’s. They came in the mail a week ago, and I’ve already worn them on three days! I ordered them in a medium, and they fit really well! The waist is a little loose, but that I’ve found that is pretty typical in high waisted shorts! They’re super relaxed, and extra comfy!
I’ve seen a few reviews where people were unhappy with the fit or sizing of their shorts, but I haven’t had any problems out of the three pairs I’ve owned! They also have quite a few different styles, and colors available! So if you’re like me, and have limited cutoff shorts making abilities, this is a great option to explore!
